Emergency Action Plan Director Course F-59: $120
Local Law 26 of 2004: Office Building Emergency Action Plans became effective in 2008. LL26 requires commercial high-rises to have on staff Fire Safety Directors who must be certified as Emergency Action Plan Directors. Radiant offers a comprehensive course that prepares participants to become Emergency Action Plan Directors. The course is designed to examine every aspect of emergencies other than fire. It is invaluable to those who dedicate their careers to the protection of people from harm and property from loss in the built environment.
New York City has experienced numerous emergencies other than fire. In 2008 there was the collapse of two construction cranes. Six construction workers and a person in a residential complex were killed when a crane toppled onto several buildings; and in a separate incident, two construction workers were killed after a crane collapsed at a construction site. In 2007 the steam pipe explosion resulted in damages to multiple properties and wide-spread panic among building occupants. The 2003 Blackout resulted in the deaths of several people. On September 11, 2001, New York's World Trade Center was destroyed when terrorists crashed commercial airliners into the buildings. Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear catastrophic events are discussed. The EAP responses: shelter in place, in-building relocation, partial evacuation and evacuation are explored in detail and evaluated based on selected human-made and natural disasters. Lessons learned from local and national catastrophic events are discussed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of emergencies other than fire.
The EAP Director Course is designed to meet the requirements of Local Law 26 of 2004: Office Building Emergency Action Plans. This course will provide an understanding of the background and purpose of the four responses that are to be implemented to protect building occupants from hazards such as chemical releases, biological releases, dirty bombs, nuclear explosions and other emergency situations that necessitate the protection of people from harm.
The Certificate of Fitness granted to those participants who successfully complete the course and pass the tests is the F-59. To obtain an F-59, participants must first hold a Fire Safety Director Certificate of Fitness F25 or F58. This class is open to all individuals interested in learning what to do in the event of non-fire emergencies in high-rise buildings. 7 hours.
