Building Operation, Maintenance and Recordkeeping Course
(Continuing Education Course for Fire Safety Directors): $130
The Fire Department has introduced Rules §113-12: Building Operation, Maintenance and Recordkeeping Training Courses effective in October 2010. The course requires a minimum of seven (7) hours of classroom instructions. Students are allowed two (2) opportunities to pass the final examination. Students who fail the final examination on the second attempt shall be required to re-pay for the course and re-attend the course in its entirety.
The course must be attended by all Fire Safety Directors who now hold F-25 and/or F-58 Certificates of Fitness that expire between October 1, 2010 and September 30, 2014. Candidates need to take this course one time prior to the expiration date of their FSD F-25 or F-58 Certificates of Fitness. Candidates who hold two or more FSD Certificates of Fitness must take this course prior to the expiration date of the first certificate scheduled to expire.

- Elevator in readiness
- Refrigerating systems, including operator inspection after repair, monthly testing, and operator logbook.
- Flame-resistant decorations
- Fire alarm systems
- Sprinkler systems
- Standpipe systems
- Out-of-service sprinkler, standpipe and fire alarm systems, including impairment coordinator, fire guard and notification requirements
- Portable fire extinguishers
- Commercial cooking systems
- Smoke control systems
- Non-water fire extinguishing systems
- Means of egress, including Building Code required exit and elevator signage, and photo luminescent pathway markings
- Hot work operations
- Fumigation and insecticidal fogging operations
- Painting of sprinkler and standpipe system piping and valve handles in both new and existing buildings
Course Information
- This is a one-time “continuing education” course.
- The course is expected to last between 8-10 hours, including breaks and exam time.
- A 50-Question multiple choice exam will be administered by Radiant Training. 70% is the passing grade. Inspection, Test and Maintenance tables/charts will be issued to students to refer to DURING the exam.
- Participants who pass the Graduation exam will be issued a Radiant Training Diploma and formal letter of participation and passing.
- Participants who fail the course one time may retest FREE of charge. Participants who do NOT pass on their second attempt will have to repay for the course.
- There is NO CBT associated with this course.
- This course MUST be attended by all holders of F-25 and F-58 Fire Safety Director Certificates of Fitness PRIOR to renewing their certificates through September 30, 2014.
- Course participants MUST bring their F-25 or F-58 FSD Certificates of Fitness to the class.

Radiant allows you to retake the written test for free one time if you fail it. Radiant assumes no responsibility for issuing refunds or rescheduling students for classes missed as a result of illness, delayed public transportation, inclement weather, emergencies or other events beyond our control. We do give refunds in the event that Radiant cancels a class. If Radiant cancels your class, you will be notified. You can transfer to another class and no transfer fee will be charged or a refund will be issued. A refund check (for all types of payments, including cash and credit/debit card payments) will be mailed to the address you provided when you registered. There are no cash refunds.
